301 redirect

I'm currently building a site that will have a few different section i.e. going out in barcelona, shopping in barcelona etc (these aren't the section but at the moment I'm sworn to secrecy!!!)

I'm told that a 301 redirect doesn't affect SEO and also been informed that Yahoo and MSN like keyword rich urls.

Therefore would it be beneficial for me to have my main domain i.e. barcelona.com and then also buy the domain going-out-in-barcelona.com and then redirecting that page to barcelona.com/goingout.

Would that help with SEO? Obviously I'm doing all of the other online and offline SEO techniques as well.

Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: 301 redirect

If your thinking redirecting domains to your site will have an seo benefits it will not... the domain itself will have absolutely no value until it has some backlinks which are cached in Google/Yahoo/MSN... so don't expect it to help you however if you think there is traffic that will come directly to this second domain then domain forward it to your main domain but I would suggest sticking with one domain... people who try and use more than one for "seo" purposes generally end up having issues
