hello to all.

besides arial, verdana & maybe tahoma, what other fonts could be classified as sans-serif standards?

Those are about the only ones your safe using based on what ships with everyones computer. I usually specify them in the order that its likely they will be available. IE the one i want but with limited support first and so on down the line.

I usually do something like Helvetica, arial, verdana, san-serif (to allow the system to pick something in the case that you strik out)

Maybe some day the web will catch up with typography. Until then you could look at Mike Davidson's sIFR to replace headlines (never do this with body text) with a flash file containing the font you would like to see.
