Difference between PPC & SEO

Hello friends,

I know this might be a little elementary, but what is the main difference between SEO and PPC? Do you consider PPC to be part of SEO?

RE: Difference between PPC & SEO

The most important thing to remember is that SEO and PPC are complementary strategies. There is no conflict between using the two techniques, and both will be more successful if used together as opposed to using just one or the other in isolation.

The most obvious difference is the price tag that comes with these two techniques. You are paying for the clicks that PPC sends your way, whereas the clicks from SEO are free. Getting to the top of the SEO tree for your most lucrative search terms requires hard work. Getting to the top of the PPC tree for the same search terms requires money (just how much is dependent on the competition for that particular search term) and work. Both PPC and SEO require hard work researching keywords so that you know which search terms to buy (for PPC) and which terms to optimise for (SEO). Different creatives per search term or group (PPC) and different HTML coding for each page of your site (SEO) both need to be written to entice customers. SEO has the added complication that the title tags need to be written with the search engines in mind as well.

PPC can be characterised as a quick boost of traffic to a particular site. If you’re willing to pay the price of the clicks, then you can buy a top position for your chosen search terms in the major Pay per Click engines. Providing your search term has enough traffic, and your creative is tight and enticing, you should notice a bump in traffic.

SEO is a slower process. You are unlikely to see major changes to your traffic in the early stages, as so much of SEO is to do with the structure and environment of your site.

However, the effects of SEO are both longer lasting and cheaper than PPC. With PPC, the moment you stop your campaign the traffic dries up entirely. SEO on the other hand will continue to bring in traffic even if you stop SEO work on the site, although you will need to ensure that your SEO campaign keeps abreast of changes in the search engine algorithms.

RE: Difference between PPC & SEO

Dil dude, it sounds like you need to buy a book...

Pay per click advertising generally does not help your search engine ranking, one running a ppc campaign expects to earn an immediate payoff greater than the cost of attracting the visitors, the same goes for any form of paid advertising, though some businesses building a brand awareness benefit in the long run from their name and logo sinking into people's subconscious through repeated exposure.

SEO encompass any measure to improve search engine ranking in either result page position or the number of keyword phrases the site ranks for.
Internal/on-site seo involves increasing the perceived value and clarifying the keywords the site is to match. Off-site seo involves the creation of new links to your site, which are tallied by the search engine spiders to measure a site's popularity and authority. One might pay for links to be placed on prime sites, or using no cost 'bum marketing' techniques add links themselves to blog comments, forum post signatures and social bookmarks.

I think PPC, Pay Per Click is used to do paid advertising online and its little costly too, but quite useful method. On other hand SEO is a really a great process of increasing good amount of visitors to the site to improve ranking in a search result of a search engine.

RE: Difference between PPC & SEO

SEO is important because it will bring you active customers to your website who are interested in your products and services. Providing you have a website which is user friendly, informative and is of interest to them you should be able to see a return on your website investment as you will not have to pay each time a user clicks to go to your website.

RE: Difference between PPC & SEO

Pay-Per-Click Marketing is more like traditional advertising – you pay to be shown in the search engine listings for specific keyword phrases. But unlike traditional media, you don't pay for impressions, you only pay when someone actually clicks on your ad – hence the term "pay-per-click." When you make a 'keyword buy', your listings are shown in the blue area below. These are also known as the paid listings or sponsored links, but are referred to in the SEM industry as pay-per-click (PPC) ads. Find out more about PPC.Organic Search Engine Optimization – or SEO for short – is more like public relations. You cannot buy 'publicity' for your site, you have to work for it by undertaking specific techniques and strategies. Generally, these activities include making changes to your website to included targeted keyword phrases and increasing the quality and number of incoming links to your website. When you conduct SEO, you are attempting to get your site listed in the red area below – the unpaid or organic listings.

RE: Difference between PPC & SEO

PPC stands for "pay per click". Pay per Click is an advertising model where businesses pay an agreed upon amount, each time their advertisement is "clicked", not each time their ad is displayed.
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site or a web page such as blogs from search engines via "natural" or un-paid search results as opposed to other forms of search engine marketing (SEM) which may deal with paid inclusion.
