Google analytics or AWStats?

Hi,
I though to post this in seo forum and later thought this is the correct forum.

I have google analytics as well as awstats for my site.
awstat's stats are always higher than google analytics when it come to number of visitors.

which one is more accurate?
which one don't count bots?
do google analytics counts subdomain visit even though i install theire code in home page only in the main domain (xxxs.com)?

RE: Google analytics or AWStats?

Hello
# Documentation. Read the major links on the Google Analytics support site (http://www.google.com/support/analytics/). This will give you a good overall understanding of the implementation.
# Page Tags. Tag all your pages with the GA Tracking Code that Google gives you when you sign up. Most GA users put the tracking code into an "include" file that gets included on all your pages, like a footer. When you think you are all tagged, spend $9 to $29 for a SiteScan at Epikone (http://sitescanga.com) to verify your work.
# Secure Pages. If you have any secure pages on your site, you need to use the secure code for them. The easiest way to do this is to use secure code on all your pages (even the insecure pages). When you sign up for GA, give your URL as https://www.mysite.com, not http, and it will generate the secure code (and dont worry: the analytics will still work just fine.)

Google Analytics (GA)

GA is more accurate, has more product support, doesn't count bots. GA can also filter out subdomain visits or not - your choice using profile filters to discount subdomain traffic and set domain method.

The discrepancy in visitors could be a number of things:

AW Stats counts bots
The tracking executes upon server request where as GA waits for the page to load to register a pageview
