Wawo isn't it a breaking news that google has stoppped updating paid directories but i don't agree with this statement, it was discussed on a forum that google is no more going to update paid directories.But what will happen if this was to be true.Let me explain it and give a solution of it.
Google says that it is going to stop the paid directories updation and in my openion every designer on this forumor any toher forum is at least having a single directory and he is spending in buyinglinks for it , so what will happen if his directory stops updating.In the mean time yahoo or altavista should start a page ranking programe and offcourse every one will move towards them.How's that? That was just a solution of mine perhaps it may be ur too becoz i m very upset about the future of my directories ....and offcourse u all will be too.......!!!!!

Webrank to a specific website will be influenced by the number of relevant incoming links, quality of the content and also the relevant sites linking to.

If this Google webrank thing is real, than small players will get a better chance to get # 1 rankings in Google. We?ll have to wait and see what happens.
From what I have been reading it seems fairly certain that they are going to stop updating paid directories, and they will soon be bringing in a new rating system

onlya directory owner can ans ur statment that google decision is beneficial or not becoz u don't have any directory and so u don'thave the tension for its update, but designers onlylooks for the google pr update, as its the only way to get some revenue from his site, and offcourse directory is the best way of getting revenue if it is highly ranked but now it seems to be not happening again......!!!!
