SCREEN RESOLUTION PROBLEM

Hi I am developing a website and I'm testing it on different resolutions but in older monitors with 1024 with the website isn't viewed right, is there a way to adapt the page according to the visitor's screen resolution? I am using dreamweaver cs3, can someone explain this to me in a detailed way as I have practically no experience with developing websites and this is my first one.

Thanks

RE: SCREEN RESOLUTION PROBLEM

Hi doooh. You could use a fixed layout that works well in all screen resolutions or a fluid one.

We need to see the site. Can you provide a link please.

I do believe however this may be a bit complicated for you if you have no experience designing websites.

RE: SCREEN RESOLUTION PROBLEM

Hi,

often there are drivers* provided with monitors. You might have a look if there is something like this available. Perhaps a CD that came with the monitor?
Also, you should run a LCD monitor in its native resolution.

Thanks for all friends

RE: SCREEN RESOLUTION PROBLEM

Hello friends

Yes, I have a same problem. But I can set the correct resolution (1680x1050) from advanced dialog box, select from resolution list, but in the combo box still show 1600x1024.
After install nVidia driver I cannot select the correct one from the resolution list Sad . The windows always set back the 1600x1024 resolution and screen is not on the middle on my monitor.
Another problem: I try to set manually the type of my Fujitsu 22" monitor. I cannot find standard 1680x1050 monitor type Sad . So only I can select this resolution when I set a higher resolution monitor type. But this is gray in the list, and when I try to select it, don't changed the resolution, only the confirm dialog box appear. Sad

Thanks for all friends

RE: SCREEN RESOLUTION PROBLEM

Fixed layout is the best way to solve screen resolution problem although we should test our website on all widely used resolutions to avoid any future problem before making the website live....
