Www2, www3 - Don't get it

Hi everyone,
I can't seem to find an explanation for the www2, 3, etc urls. What are they? If I have a client who has a www2.clientsite.com URL indexed in Yahoo!, what does that mean? I feel silly asking this. thanks for any help!

RE: Www2, www3 - Don't get it

ts simply a sub domain which is all server side controlled..

a domain is whatever.com
These are all sub domains:
http://www.whatever.com
www2.whatever.com
info.whatever.com
help.whatever.com

And on and on for what ever you want to make up and setup on the server side.

On a side note what I am finding really weird is we have a client using a www2 sub domain and Yahoo isn't acting favorably towards it, but haven't found a reasoning as to why because it is no different than any other sub domain.
